LIVING TO DIE OR DYING TO LIVE?

Have you ever felt like giving up is your only option? You’re in a place where you give and give, and you try, and you push yourself, and it’s as though nothing you do is ever enough?

Tired, overworked and unhappy… Sound familiar?

What do you do when you’ve given it your all and “Your All” was not enough?

Once upon a time, somewhere in between emotional breakdowns and self-sabotage, I found myself having to make the choice that you are most likely facing this very moment. Do you keep going? Do you throw in the towel and lay to rest the very dreams that once gave your life meaning? Who or what are you even fighting against? Irrational fears, unworthiness or uncertainty?

Have you ever heard the saying: Get busy living, or get busy dying? Truth is, you do have a choice to make. Do you choose life, or do you choose death? I don’t mean literal death of one’s body but the kind that leaves your body in existence, but your soul is left to slowly die because you’ve taken away all reason to continue living.

I’m talking about your dreams. When did dreaming become painful? When did dreaming become a dreadful responsibility? When did your dreams become agonizing nightmares?

Do you remember the days as a child when you’d wake up and everything was easy? Not because life was a fairy tale but because our dreams were not tainted by the opinions of others or by the feeling of inadequacy.

It didn’t matter what the world around us looked like. Our dreams were our own. What happened? Did we let those unsolicited opinions and judgement creep inside our confidence?

“FEAR” A four letter word that is so profound and holds so much power. Enough to stop us from dreaming freely and living the life we envisioned.

The question is, what are you going to do? Truth is, the saying we’ve heard our entire lives is truer than true. “We only have one life to live”.  Are you letting life pass you by?

I made my choice. I chose to strip myself bare to the bone from all fear.  I chose to live according to my own perspective. I chose to live according to my expectations and standards. I chose to dream big and accomplish even bigger. I chose to leap, even if it meant falling. I chose to break free, to live and experience through trials and triumphs. Every day I made a choice that brought me to this very moment. Today, I am choosing to hand over the keys to freedom, to you… Take the leap!

In a world where kindness is so scarce, in a world where passion is practically non-existent, I want to remind you and encourage you to be as valiant as you once were when childlike dreams were acceptable to have. Be bold, be courageous, be the person you were meant to become before the fear of inadequacy took hold of you. You are still that young child, brave and unafraid, you just haven’t been yourself lately. There is still time. What’s it going to take?
